Don't mess with the apple of God's eye

There have always been direct correlations between natural disasters on nations and their leader's efforts to divide Israel. Interestingly, most of these disasters have been occurring within 24 hours of those efforts. Let us take a brief look at Israel's history. The nation of Israel was destroyed twice, however, the Jews always returned to their land. In 586 B.C., the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the nation and took the Jewish people captive to Babylon. Later in 70 A.D, the Romans destroyed the nation and this time the Jews were dispersed throughout the world. There was no Israel for more than 1800 years. On May 14, 1948, Israel was re-born. It is mind-boggling to know that even today the Jews speak Hebrew, a language which their ancestors spoke many hundred years ago.

Zech 2:8 says, "For whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye". In a certain sense, any nation that harms Israel is indirectly poking the pupil of God's eye. Obviously, God is not going to remain silent.

I do not know why Israel is special in the eyes of God. But I do know that out of all the nations on earth, God sent Jesus to be born in Bethlehem, Israel. Jesus was born to Jewish parents. Moreover, the Bible was written by Jewish hands.

Borders of Israel

Genesis 15:18 says, "On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates."

So according to this scripture, the land of Israel should include present day Israel as well as Lebanon, Jordan, Sinai, most of Syria, part of Iraq, part of Saudi Arabia and Eastern Egypt. So who is occupying whom? Israel is occupying only a tiny portion of the original land allotted by God.

Information about Palestine

In 135 A.D. the Roman emperor Hadrian after conquering Judea and Israel changed their names to Palestine in an effort to remove the memory of Jewish presence. Well, just ask yourself the following questions. What are the borders of Palestine? Who was the first President? What was its capital? Who was the Palestinian leader prior to Yasser Arafat? What was the language of Palestine? So there is hardly any historical record about the existence of the Palestinian people. Actually, the Palestinian people are a collection of Arabs from the Arab world. On the other hand, there is rich Archeological evidence supporting the fact that this land belongs to the Jewish people.

After the 1967 war, Israel captured the Gaza Strip from Egypt along with Eastern Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan. Note that Israel did not capture land from Palestine because there was no Palestinian nation.

Dividing the Land of Israel

The nations of the world are pressurizing Israel to give up parts of her land and East Jersusalem to the Palestinian people. However, the Bible makes it clear that Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people. I like what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said when he stated, “Jerusalem would never be divided and would remain the capital of the Jewish state”. Pressurizing Israel to give up parts of Jerusalem or other parts of the country for the so-called "Road Map for Peace" will only bring disaster on the nation that pressurizes Israel. This is very evident from history.

The following information was taken from William Koenig's website:

1. October 30, 1991: The Perfect Storm - As President George H. W. Bush is opening the Madrid (Spain) Conference to consider "land for peace" in Israel's Middle East role, the "perfect storm" develops in the North Atlantic, creating the largest waves ever recorded in that region. The storm travels 1000 miles from "east to west" instead of the normal "west to east" pattern and crashes into the New England Coast. Thirty-five foot waves crash into the Kennebunkport home of President Bush.

2. January 16, 1994: Northridge Earthquake - President Bill Clinton meets with Syria's President Hafez el-Assad in Geneva. They talk about a peace agreement with Israel that includes giving up the Golan Heights. Within 24 hours, a powerful 6.9 earthquake rocks Southern California. This quake, centered in Northridge, becomes the second most destructive natural disaster to hit the United States, behind Hurricane Andrew.

3. September 28, 1998: Hurricane George - As Secretary of State Albright works on the final details of an agreement in which Israel would give up 13 percent of Yesha (Judah and Samaria), Hurricane George slams into the United States Gulf Coast with 110 mph winds and gusts up to 175 mph. The hurricane hits the coast and stalled. On September 28, Clinton meets with Yasser Arafat and Netanyahu at the White House to finalize this land deal. Later, Arafat addresses the United Nations about declaring an independent Palestinian state by May 1999, as Hurricane George pounds the Gulf Coast, causing $1 billion in damage. At the exact time that Arafat departs the country, the storm begins to dissipate.

These are just few examples. The following two books provide detailed information regarding the connection between dividing Israel and natural disasters.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, "That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun". There was a Pharaoh (during the time of Moses) who was hard on the Jewish people, so God made him as fish food by drowning the Egyptian army in the Red Sea. Then there was a Pharaoh (during the time of Joseph) who blessed the Jewish people and God made Egypt the most powerful nation in the world during that time. We are supposed to learn from history and not repeat the same mistakes done in the past. Genesis 12:3 says, "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you". The covenant God made with Abraham still stands today.

We as Christians should pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Psalm 122:6 says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure". Seeing these events unfold makes it clear that our Lord is coming very soon.
