Thou shall not waste

In John chapter 6, we read about Jesus multiplying the five loaves and two fish to feed thousands. There is a powerful message in this chapter. In verse 12, Jesus commands his disciples to gather the left over pieces of loaves. In fact, Jesus is teaching us a lesson not to waste food.

It is estimated that someone somewhere dies of hunger approximately every four seconds,  which is about 15 people every minute. Every year around 15 million children die of hunger. So that's a lot of people. We are so privileged to eat three meals a day, which is considered a luxury for many millions around the world.

Parents when you throw away excess food, you’re throwing away precious money. Consider the thousands of children who cannot manage one square meal a day. That food that you throw away would be delicacies to those starving people.

When you go to a restaurant, order just enough or if there is any left over food, pack it and take it home. Don’t feel shy about it, I am sure the disciples would have felt shy while picking up the left over food. So mothers, the next time when you fix food, fix just enough for your family.
